2026 SUMMER INFORMATION

We are excited to announce our 2026 Summer offerings at the Institute of Contemporary Dance. Auditions are required for all Intensives and the HC2 2026-2027 Season. Pre-registration is recommended but not required for in person auditions. If you can not make any of the scheduled auditions, please see below for video auditions requirements. Only one audition is required. Private Auditions are available upon request and availability by emailing: studiodirector@icdhouston.com

PLEASE NOTE: If you have auditioned and have been accepted to our Houston Contemporary Workshop or FOCUS intensives in 2024 or 2025 you do not need to audition. Please fill out the audition registration form below and we will be in touch with registration information.

Audition Dress Code:

We encourage movers to follow the gender they identify with. Please follow dress codes accordingly. Gender identity can include an expression of female identified, male identified, trans, non-binary, queer. Any questions please let us know.

(Female Identified) Any color leotard with pink/ flesh tone footed tights and matching ballet shoes. Skirts are allowed to be worn for ballet and leggings or shorts are allowed to be worn for Jazz/contemporary. No baggy clothing. Jazz shoes are encouraged but not required. Hair must be pulled back in a bun or a ponytail if it’s long enough.
(Male Identified) Tight fitting pants or tights and a tight fitting T-shirt or tank top. Hair must be pulled back if it’s long enough. Ballet shoes are required and Jazz shoes are encouraged but not required. No baggy clothing.

2026 VIDEO Audition REQUIREMENTS

Video Audition Requirements

For prospective 2026 Summer Intensive students who cannot audition in Houston or for those unable to make a live audition date, a video audition is accepted until May 31st, 2026. The video needs to be in a dance studio or large space and auditioners need to be wearing clothes that allow instructors to see clean lines and your facility. The video should include the following items for each Intensive.

Houston Contemporary Dance Company Workshop video requirements:
1. Dancers Name and Age
2. Any 2 Ballet barre exercises (both sides)
3. Any 2 Ballet exercises center (both sides)
4. 1 min solo with floorwork, pirouettes, leaps/jumps and
movement that shows clear technique within modern and contemporary.

ICD Contemporary, Performance & Classical Intensives video requirements:
1. Dancers Name and Age
2. 1-2 min solo with floorwork, pirouettes, leaps/jumps and
movement that shows clear technique.

Please pay the $35 video audition fee below, fill out this form and submit a video audition by posting to a platform such as YouTube or Vimeo. Please email the link to info@icdhouston.com. Your video will not be reviewed until the audition fee is paid. Acceptance will be given 3-4 weeks after submitting and payment goes through.

Houston Contemporary Workshop
June 15th-21st, 2026 (15+)

The Institute of Contemporary Dance Houston presents the Houston Contemporary Dance Company in a six day workshop geared toward the pre-professional and professional level dancers (Ages 15+) that are interested in a full choreographic experience while learning more about Houston Contemporary Dance Company. This workshop will consist of one technique class a day, Rep class and then the afternoon working on creating a new choreographic work from our 2 Guest Artists ( to be announced). Attendees conclude in a special performance on Sunday, June 21st, 2026 at the Institute of Contemporary Dance. There are no classes on June 19th, 2026 in observance of Juneteeth. Acceptance into the workshop is by audition only with limited in studio spots. If you cannot audition in person or virtually, please submit a video audition here.

ICD SUMMER INTENSIVES (11+/AUDITION REQUIRED)

Institute Intensives for movers 11+. Auditions are required (see here to register) and the deadline to sign up is June 15th, 2026 for all four intensives.

ICD Contemporary Intensive (June 22-26th, 2026)- NEW! Introducing our brand new Contemporary Intensive! This five day intensive will allow you to dive deep into your contemporary style and technique. Getting to work with one amazing guest instructor alongside the ICD staff and local Houston instructors. In addition to daily contemporary classes, the week will also include classes in ballet, contemporary, contemporary ballet, contemporary partnering, hip hop, ballroom and more. Friday will conclude in an informal open showing of what you have learned all week!

ICD Classical Intensive (July 6-10th, 2026) - NEW! Introducing our brand new Classical Intensive! This five day intensive will expose you to classical techniques in ballet, modern and jazz! This intensive will be jam packed with ICD staff and local Houston Instructors. Friday will conclude in an informal open showing of what you have learned all week!

ICD Performance Intensive (July 13-17th, 2026)- NEW! Introducing our brand new Performance Intensive! This five day intensive will focus on your performance in many styles! You will get to learn from one guest instructor and many ICD Staff and local Houston instructors. The week will include classes focusing on performance such as Commercial Jazz, Heels, Dance Theatre, Musical Theatre, Acting, Pantomime and more! Friday will conclude in an informal open showing of what you have learned all week!

ICD Contemporary Intensive (July 20-24th, 2026)- NEW! Introducing our brand new Contemporary Intensive! This five day intensive will allow you to dive deep into your contemporary style and technique. Getting to work with one amazing guest instructor alongside the ICD staff and local Houston instructors. In addition to daily contemporary classes, the week will also include classes in ballet, contemporary, contemporary ballet, contemporary partnering, hip hop, ballroom and more. Friday will conclude in an informal open showing of what you have learned all week!

CONTEMPORARY Dance CAMP (AGES 7-13)
June 8TH-12TH (BEG Level)
June 22nd- 26th (INT Level)

Contemporary Dance Camp is modeled after our ICD intensives with the same great training in a shorter day! Dancers will get to take classes in styles such as Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Hip Hop and more! No Audition is required for this Intensive. Movers should provide their own lunch. Dancers will be required to wear leotards and tights or tank tops and leggings. Dancers will need ballet shoes, jazz shoes and sneakers for the week. Yoga mats are optional.

Middle School Dance Prep
Workshop (AGES 10-13)
July 13TH-17TH, 2026

Our five day Middle School Workshop helps movers learn more about training for Middle school dance teams and beyond. Movers will have the opportunity to take multiple classes from multiple instructors as well as build a performance piece to be shown at the end of the week. Movers will take classes in styles such as ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary and hip hop. The week will conclude in a small studio showing of the performance piece. No Audition is required for this camp. Movers should provide their own lunch.

Dancers will be required to wear leotards and tights or tank tops and leggings. Dancers will need ballet shoes, jazz shoes and sneakers for the week. Dancers will be asked to wear all black dancewear for the showing at the end of the week. No dance costumes.

Young movers dance camp
(AGES 6-10)

Institute of Contemporary is excited to announce our Young Movers Dance Camp. This camp is designed to expose your young movers to new styles of dance while having fun! We welcome movers 6-10 years old. All movers should bring their own lunch and dress in the provided dress code. No dance experience is necessary.

*If your mover is 5 years old and would like to be considered for the camp please email info@icdhouston.com for approval.
